Dora Sanchez, a veteran tax-preparation professional, will open up a new insurance agency in Central Islip next week.
Sanchez and her son Juan Carlos are the newest franchisees of Brightway, a national chain of insurance brokers. The Brightway Sanchez Family Agency opens Monday, August 15 at 284 East Suffolk Ave.
Sanchez, a native of Guatemala, founded her tax preparation business Independence Multi Services in 2007 and has several years of real estate and insurance industry experience. She emigrated to the U.S. with her family 44 years ago.
“I’ve always wanted to run my own business,” Sanchez said in a company statement. “After we moved here from Guatemala in the 70’s, my mother ran her own business selling clothing. Wanting to have my own thing that my family could be a part of has always been my plan.”
Established in 2008, Brightway has grown to become one of the largest privately-owned property/casualty insurance distribution companies in the U.S. with over 300 franchises in 30 states and over $900 million in annual premiums, according to the company.
