Free open house legal clinic set for Oct. 24

The Nassau County Bar Association will host a free open house legal clinic on Oct. 24 from 3-7 p.m. at its Mineola headquarters.

The event coincides with National Pro Bono Week, and the bar association is collaborating with Nassau Suffolk Law Services and the Safe Center LI in hosting the upcoming clinic.

There, volunteer attorneys will provide free consultations in such areas as bankruptcy, divorce and family issues, employment, mortgage foreclosure and landlord-tenant issues, senior citizen issues, immigration and other general legal matters.

The open house clinic provides people the opportunity to receive one-time free counsel and guidance. Spanish translators will be available. Any language requiring translation can be accommodated upon prior request.

Masks are required to attend.

The bar association also offers multiple mortgage foreclosure clinics throughout the year to assist those who have been affected by mortgage foreclosure.

Attorneys who participate in the open house clinic do not provide further legal representation. Attendees who would like to hire an attorney are referred to NCBA Lawyer Referral Service.

Advanced registration is required. To register for a free, one-on-one consultation with an attorney, or to learn more about NCBA’s community service programs, contact ncbaopenhouse@gmail.com or (516) 747-4070 ext. 1231. Attendees are asked to bring all documents to the open house clinic.
