After winning the 1010 WINS Small Business Challenge, Long Beach-based Trellus Same-Day Local Delivery is paying it forward by sharing its prize money with other Long Island small businesses.

With the company’s seamless technology, the company focuses on same-day delivery for the region’s small businesses. Now, with the Trellus Local Delivery Grant, 20 eligible small businesses that need delivery service will receive $500 to cover their Trellus subscription and delivery costs. The winners will become more “digitally competitive,” the company said.

“Small businesses deserve a win against the likes of Amazon, Walmart, and other e-commerce giants. Trellus is breaking down barriers to help independently owned businesses survive,” Trellus Cofounder and Chief Technology Office  JR Jensen said in a statement.

“We’re thrilled to share this $10,000 with independent businesses on Long Island that are driving local economic growth and breathing life into our downtowns,” he added.

The company is accepting applications from brick-and-mortar retailers, professional services and home-based businesses through Feb. 14.  More information is available here.

In December 1010, WINS announced Trellus as the grand-prize winner of its small-business challenge, which was sponsored by Dime Community Bank. Trellus’ plan to use the money to help foster other local businesses resonated with the 1010 WINS team of independent judges.
