To build awareness about access to comprehensive government-supported care, a healthcare organization has recently rebranded with a new name and a new logo.

Under the rebranding, Long Island Family Health Centers is now Harmony Healthcare Long Island. The rebranding will help Nassau County residents recognize the services which are available to them, often right in their own communities.

“We remain focused on our mission to provide access to equitable and optimal healthcare. We are committed to improving the overall wellness of all individuals in our communities and delivering high quality comprehensive patient centered care, regardless of one’s ability to pay,” Harmony Healthcare Long Island President and CEO David Nemiroff said in a statement about the branding.

“Our new name and logo symbolize our dedication to those we serve, supported by our spirited concept of working together as one – in perfect harmony,” Nemiroff added.

The rebranding comes at a time of increasing cases of positive COVID, flu and respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, and when health organizations in underserved communities can help treat people so that they avoid emergency-room visits and hospitalization, and those associated costs.

A nonprofit, Harmony Healthcare Long Island was originally designated as Nassau County’s first Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 2009. The organization provides comprehensive health care and health care related services to underserved communities with locations in Elmont, Freeport, Hempstead, Oceanside, Roosevelt, and Westbury.

The organization has had over 160,000 patient care visits to date in 2022. The majority of patients served by Harmony Healthcare Long Island live below the poverty level, speak a language other than English, and half are covered by Medicaid/Medicaid Managed Care.

Throughout the pandemic, the organization provided essential health care services to more than 58,000 patients between 2020 and 2022. As the pandemic started to dissipate, Harmony Healthcare Long Island created a three-year strategic plan, which included a rebranding initiative, concluding with the announcement of its new name.

The organization broadened its reach across Long Island during COVID by providing mobile health and telehealth services. In addition, Harmony Healthcare Long Island received a five-year Perinatal Infant Community Health Collaborative grant to combat maternal and infant mortality. Dental services have expanded across the system, including a newly renovated dental suite in Elmont.

In 2023, the organization’s newly renovated healthcare center in Hempstead will officially open its doors, doubling its capacity to serving  more than 12,000 people within this single location.

Harmony Healthcare Long Island aims to continue to advance its specialized services including diabetes education, women’s health, pediatric care, and school-based health center programs. By providing these services to underserved populations, the organization seeks to increase awareness of its accessibility and commitment to the region.
