Adani Group Says 5G Spectrum Acquisition Will Help Create A Unified Digital Platform

Adani Enterprises Ltd. said the group’s newly acquired 5G spectrum will help create a unified digital platform for the ports-to-power conglomerate.

The platform will accelerate digitisation of its core infrastructure, primary industry and business-to-consumer business portfolio, Adani Enterprises said in an exchange filing.

Acquiring 400 MHz of spectrum is the first step in integrating its digital infrastructure portfolio, which includes data centres, terrestrial fibre and submarine cables, industrial cloud, AI innovation labs, cybersecurity and super apps, the company said.

“The Adani Group’s foray into the industrial 5G space will allow our portfolio companies to offer a set of new add-on services that capitalizes on all the other digital segments we are building,” Gautam Adani, chairman of the group, said in a statement.

Adani Data Networks Ltd., a unit of Adani Enterprises, bought 400 MHz of spectrum in the 26 GHz millimetre wave band for Rs 212 crore. The company secured the spectrum for 20 years in the first-ever 5G spectrum auction in India.

The group’s broader strategy, according to the statement, is to digitally integrate its current and future businesses. That includes linking its data centres through a network of submarine and terrestrial cables, building the largest industrial operations cloud in the world, developing the super app to offer a suite of services across its consumer base and establishing an AI centre, the statement said.
